Based on the OP criteria, I'd choose something that has parts available that will allow it to be repaired or even completely rebuilt fairly easily. So I voted 1911 and CZ-75.

Given the constant attacks on gun rights by the left, & appeasement by the right, it’s not a stretch to imagine a different gun rights landscape in 20, 30, 40, or 50 years. Will handguns be outlawed altogether?

With that in mind, and thinking about what guns we can hand down to our children in the event of a leftist utopia sans new manfacture handguns, what’s the best handgun (category or model) on the market now, that will still be going strong in 40+ years? We see 1st Gen Glock plastic holding up after 30 years, but what about in 30 more years? We’ve also see some of those plastic frames crack.

That said, which metal framed handgun is the best choice to hand down to our future generations? Keeping in mind reliability, existing aftermarket support, ammo capacity & availability.

What’s your choice for a 100-year handgun, if we woke up one day with an ‘86 style handgun ban?
