To any of you who have paid close attention to the news, some of the following facts may not come as much of a surprise. However having all the facts clearly laid out in front of you never ceases to provide a terribly attention grabbing experience. I present to you the facts, it is up to you to decide how to act upon them.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security. The agency's primary purpose is to coordinate the response to a disaster that has occurred in the United States and that overwhelms the resources of local and state authorities. The governor of the state in which the disaster occurs must declare a state of emergency and formally request from the president that FEMA and the federal government respond to the disaster. Following the September 11, 2001, attacks, Congress passed the Homeland Security Act of 2002, which created the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to better coordinate among the different federal agencies that deal with law enforcement, disaster preparedness and recovery, border protection and civil defense. FEMA was absorbed into DHS effective March 1, 2003. President Bush appointed Michael D. Brown as FEMA's director in January 2003. Emergency management professionals testified that funds for preparedness for natural hazards was given less priority than preparations for counter terrorism measures. Some people have referred to it as the "secret government" of the United States. It is not an elected body, it does not involve itself in public disclosures, and it even has a quasi-secret budget in the billions of dollars. This government organization has more power than the President of the United States or the Congress, it has the power to suspend laws, move entire populations, arrest and detain citizens without a warrant and hold them without trial, it can seize property, food supplies, transportation systems, and can suspend the Constitution. Not only is it the most powerful entity in the United States, but it was not even created under Constitutional law by the Congress. It was a product of a Presidential Executive Order. FEMA had one original concept when it was created, to assure the survivability of the United States government in the event of a nuclear attack on this nation. It was also provided with the task of being a federal coordinating body during times of domestic disasters, such as earthquakes, floods and hurricanes. FEMA has even been given control of the State Defense Forces, a rag-tag civilian army that will substitute for the National Guard, if the Guard is called to duty overseas.
FEMA has divided the United States into 10 sectors (or regions):
Region I, Boston, MA
Region II, New York City, NY
Region III, Philadelphia, PA
Region IV, Atlanta, GA
Region V, Chicago, IL
Region VI, Denton, TX
Region VII, Kansas City, MO
Region VIII, Denver, CO
Region IX, Oakland, CA
Region X, Bothell, WA
Pacific Area Office (PAO), Honolulu, HI
FEMA has over 800 Prison facilities fully up and running to date. Below the largest facilities are marked:

CBS News was allowed to do a story on FEMA, who sold the camp as a refuge for the victims of Sandy... but the reporters were not permitted to enter the FEMA facility amid reports that the ânew residentsâ were reporting that the heating, food and general overall comfort of the camp is not as good as people report. They also reported that they are able to see their breath as the temperatures are in the low 30′s.
FEMA also recently purchased thousands of giant plastic coffins each capable of holding up to 4-5 bodies.

Over the past several months Homeland Security has purchased 2,717 MRAP Armored Vehicles... the kind used in Afghanistan and Iraq.
