I'd have to agree... and this is kind of how the community would deal with it locally. Unfortunately it's hard to convince the people around me of how this should work. At least "should work" as it refers to deterring crime and taking the burden/volume off the current legal system.

You did not even mention the privatized prison system.

With a requirement that all inmates produce a positive cash flow above what their incarceration costs (room/board/food/healthcare/administrative costs) to pay the victims back for their crimes. If they don't, they don't eat. If they act out in any way, they get castrated. They need to quit making prison comfortable.

This was going to happen regardless of what the old guy did. The only thing he could've done is get gas during the day in a better part of town. Even had he been armed he most likely would've been shot. He allowed himself to be surrounded and he wasn't physically going to be able to run or fight with those guys. He might have shot 1 of them but the guy that came from behind that hit him would've shot him for sure.

Sad situation and a special place in hell for criminals that target children and the elderly.
