A properly fitted 1911 doesn't require a break in period to function.
It's a load a crap sold by companies churning out a lot of pretty pistols.
You dont believe barrels need a break in period?

This guy right here knows a thing or two bout 1911's
nope ... and a LOT of high end barrel makers dont either
Thank you and I've never owned a 1911 that requires a "break-in" period, period. And I have shot over 100,000 rounds through 1911's

So Springfield Armory, Les Baer and Wilson Combat are feeding us a load of crap I guess. Les Baer says to run 500 before cleaning to break in, Wilson says 300-500, Springfield told me to run 500 before sending in a Loaded for warranty work. I'd say these are mostly "properly fitted" aren't they? I agree they should run out of the box but when one doesn't it don't mean it's a bad one.
X2.Yes, they are feeding you crap.
Springfield doesn't belong in the same sentence as Les Baer and Wilson Combat.......ever.
Wait, do you mean that, or do you just mean thousands? Trying to understand this new slang.
