500 S&W. Ive got a 4" and 8". Like the previous poster said, itll do some damage to just about anything on the business end.

Hog Handgun Recommendations

I've never shot a 500 S&W but I have shot 44's. And from what I remember there was a long time to ride that recoil and get back on target. Granted I've been shooting for another 25 years since then but honestly-
Could you put 6 rounds on a 10" plate at 10 yards in say 3 secs?
I should have stated in my OP. This is for a woods/BU hunting gun. I think If I was planning on hunting deer/hog with a dedicated handgun a 44 or 500 would be the ticket. Maybe they would fill both roles...
The one big thing I've picked up here is that no one has recommended the 357 which was my #1 choice heading in to it.

Based on these comments I would consider a Glock in 10MM with more precise sights and maybe a Lone Wolf extended barrel and hot loads (corebon/buffalo bore). There was actually on on here a couple of months ago that looked perfect for your needs.

Dad always hog hunted with a Blackhawk in .45LC... but that one didn't make the list.
