Best Home Defense 12ga Semi-Auto?

Looking for a home defense 12 guage. Shout out for your favorite current production semi in 12. Extra points for why. Never held a Remington V3, but it seemed interesting. Anybody had one? Been looking at a Benelli M4, butvits a beast to clean/teardown. That or the Beretta A300 (1301 is OOP?), but want input from the Tradesmen.

I have a 930 tactical that I like, but the 940 updates look promising.

I’ve used, and trust, Remington 1100’s and 11-87’s, Benelli M1/M2/M4’s, and Beretta 1301’s/A300’s/1201FP’s.

These are also the semi-auto’s that I’ve seen run the most reliably in my courses.

I’ve used a lot more semi-auto’s, but not enough to recommend them.

If money is not am issue, go M4 and be done with it. Cleaning isn't as bad as one thinks, at least compared to other semi auto.

The Mossberg 930/940 series are hit or miss, best value if you find a runner, but could be a money pit if not.

The Beretta 1300 is a great one in between but hard to find.

Again, if it's not a cost issue, stick with the M4 with options you want.

Are you saying the best ones just aren't made anymore? What would be your favorite vote? I do have an old 11-87 I love, but its an old school glossy wood/blued gun. Looking for something shorter, polymer, coated, with a few more round cap.

I like (and keep) an 1100 with smooth bore deer barrel with rifle sights and a mag extension. Not big on flashlights on guns myself. Loaded with #4.

almost any semi-auto or pump action shotgun that goes bang reliably, and you can handle it, is adequate for in-home defense.
