Connecticut gun registration

And this is why our society is weak and our once great country is going straight to hell. For every man that will stand and fight, a hundred will cower down. There is strength in unity, but waking people up and organizing them to stand up for their very freedoms is quite a task, strangely enough. We are a spoiled country with no understanding of what it is like to live under tyranny. So many people do not believe it can ever happen to them. In the end we will get what we deserve. If the so called men of this country do not stand up and do something about what it happening, or being attempted, then we do not deserve our liberty. We are slapping all of our past generations in the face, and our grandchildren will despise us for being a bunch of weaklings with no backbone. Thanks for reading this far. Morning rant over.

And this attitude is exactly why these types of things are happening. Again, the people elect these politicians that in turn tell us what we can and cannot have. Now they are trying to tell us what parts of our Constitution they will protect and what parts they will destroy. And so many people accept them chipping away at our rights because it is more convenient just to comply than to stand up and fight back. And I have no tolerance for this attitude. None at all.

I agree 100%. There are some things people aren't willing to sacrifice. Some speak of giving their lives for true freedom but fear material loss. I just don't ****ing get it.

I just learned that CT already had defacto gun registration before. This new law is just a double registration. So basically they will know who didnt double register. Before it was just an 'all gun registration', now they are having a second registration database specifically for 'assault rifles'.

Now this "never register" stuff would only really apply to people who lived and bought their rifles out of state then moved to CT where they have no record.

Next step will be to make it unlawful to have those guns and forced confiscation.

There is no other purpose.

Will registration reduce crime? Name one, just one place it has been enacted and lowered crime? There are none!

Will it help identify criminals? The majority of crime guns are straw sales or stolen which will never be prevented through registration. It would help to return stolen guns for dumb asses who failed to keep a record of serial numbers but to what risk? Ironically criminals are protected from prosecution for failing to register their guns, SCOTUS based on the 5th amendment protection.

This will honestly serve two purposes; the first being criminalizing honest citizens who refuse to register. When identified they will be demonized and serve jail time or worse as a squad of door kicker's come to serve the "no knock warrant". The second, as most educated folks are aware that it serves as the milestone required to confiscate. This will occur it's just timing, for when it fails to protect the people, the precedent of restriction, prohibition and banning has been set forth and duly accepted.

Only when a majority of the people refuse to tolerate the intolerable will a reckoning finally occur. Never underestimate the power of precedence.

Nope. Wouldn't do it at all.

Are they going to have police scouring the gun ranges now asking for registration paperwork?
They may not scour gun ranges looking for paperwork, but if your caught without it you will be listed as one who could never own firearms. It's a threat. Most will fold to it rather than stand, sad but true.

The thing that is ironic is that CT was the birthplace of so many firearms companies. Springfield MA is just over the border, a couple of minutes from the CT border, and now its one of the most unfavorable gun states.

I wonder what the history books will say about that fact in 50 years.

I would say we all know what it is like to live under tyranny today...Most are just too self-absorbed to realize it.

We are a nation that lives in bliss, because we choose to be ignorant.
