Favorite line for Salt....

Looking for opinions on your favorite line choice (material type and poundage) for Pier/Beach fishing in Coastal Georgia and Florida? I have been using 20lb Stren Monofilament but wanted to see what else is out there. I travel to Florida quite often on business and usually fish in the evenings as well as take yearly trips to Jekyll Island. Also, this will be for a spinning reel setup.

Honestly though...I am not really a salt fisherman so when I go its either on a pier, on the beach or maybe a tidal lake. I have caught sharks, sheephead and other random stuff. Not sure what I would be "targeting" really.

Ask the local guides.
Tell them where, what times and bait you plan to fish with. They can tell you what to expect to catch and what gear you will need.
