My brother has decided to purchase his first firearm this weekend and we are starting the shopping process.

He is looking for a smaller pistol in 9mm and I suggested a G26 or Ruger SR9C. He liked my P238 but I'm not set on recommending a 380 for HD.

He is looking small to help with his grip as well as his GF.

I was thinking the PX4SC would be great as well.

Any other suggestions?

If it is going to be a bedside table gun I would go with a Judge or the Smith Governor with a laser or a .357 revolver. Smith and Wesson make an 8 round version. No auto unless he and his GF are willing to commit to extra training and practice. Get a laser no matter what. The manual of arms required with an auto and the possibility of a limp wrist stove pipe make a revolver a better choice in my opinion. Go full size if it is not going to be a concealed carry piece. Easier to hold and will help with recoil.
Not the popular or cool guns but effective and simple.

PS get one for each bedside table on both sides of the bed.
