Sleep Apnia/ Snoring recommendations

Did the sleep study, got a machine, tried it, HATED IT. I got fitted for 4 different masks before I gave up. Plus with the distilled water…and cleaning it….

It’s still in the carrying case at the bottom of my closet. worst $1200 I ever spent.

Edit: I hope it works for you if you need it. Most Swear by it. I just know I slept way worse because I don’t like anything on my face. That’s just me.
I could have written this …

15 years of cpap use!
It has changed my life for the better. Instead of sleeping for 8-12 hours a night I am now sleeping 6-8 hours a night and feel great! I have gained back 2-4 hours a day just by using a machine.

And to the loose weight comment!! That is not a one size that will fix all solution. I was snoring at 6'3" and 185 pounds as a teenager!

From a user check all your options for supplies. I can buy my mask hoses and such through various sites for Half of what I would have paid using Insurance deductible and cost. I also bought my machine outright and saved money as well! That varies witn ins plans though!

This is something I'm going to have to look into. Been snoring quite a while. Had sleep study last year, just couldn't afford to go farther at the time. I've known people to have the sinus surgery, but it only works for a short time. I toss and turn a lot and have all my life. I've known people not able to adapt to the machine as well. I fear I may be one of those
I had turbinate reduction and septoplasty in 2004. Recovery was a pain. It only helped for a while. CPAP was my long term solution.

All good advice here, but there IS something to losing weight. 18 months into keto and have kept 26 pounds off, started at 224 and now 198. Wife says I used to snore like a freight train, now nothing. Zip/zero/nada.

And those "worlds strongest men" dudes ALL use CPAP because of all the muscle weight on their chest. That was very enlightening.

Had the sleep study, given a cpap and hated it. Allowed a ENT specializing in sleep apnea do surgery on my throat, which was the biggest mistake in my life. Went to Dr. Yu at Emory downtown to see if Inspire was an option and discovered the cpap would not work for me and inspire was not an option . Ended up with an oral appliance that pushes my jaw forward and opens the airway. The oral appliance takes a little getting use to . Once you get it dialed in and get use to having the hardware in your mouth its all good. No more issues with snoring or stopping breathing during the night.

This Sh-- will kill you. Bite the bullet and go see a specialist. If he recommends the surgery run away as fast as you can.

I highly recommend Dr Yu at Emory down town.

Oh man, I hated my CPAP for nearly 2 years trying to adapt myself to it. Only thing kept me going was probability of stroke or worse if I didn't. I couldn't stand anything on my face either. FINALLY adjusted after a long struggle.

Another one here that can't stand the CPAP. Tried to tell the doctor that I can't sleep with something on my face.

I tried all sorts of masks. But even the tube freaks me out.

I did have better results with nasal pillows instead of a mask, but still "woke up" feeling like I had never gone to sleep.
