This year's gun bill...

Well played, in spite the Senator Stone-senior leader judgeship deal.

I will sleep better tonight knowing that Bloomberg and his minions are pissed.

I have a warm gushy feeling in me gutty wutts.....

hopefully they will pack up and get out of dodge now.

No chance! They will double down on failure and insure campus carry gets defeated as they can't lose their precious "gun free zones" as they are too valuable a tool. They are nothing but tyrants without honest concern for public safety and ignore it to serve their agenda.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."- C.S. Lewis

I just want to say this.

Every staff meeting I went into on gun bills I heard ONE name, Georgia Carry. They would always talk about how GCO wanted this or wanted that, and that was how they gauged Ga's gun voters. GCO was the thorn in their side they couldn't ignore and I couldn't be happier to be a member of their organization tonight.

Please become a member of GCO when you get a chance, they are and will continue to be a HUGE influence.

GCO is the best pro-gun organization on earth and I hope they remain so. I will print your words up with a link to this ODT thread and hand them out to all who would support this endeavor. Many were unaware of the game that just occurred with our rights. Thank you GCO!!!!!!

On another note, the medical marijuana bill failing is very disappointing for seizures and the nausea and vomiting uncontrolled with approved medications, it would have been beneficial to Georgians.

Like others have said, GCO really pulled it off this year. Great Job!

I was also VERY glad to read this in my GCO email this morning...

It should also be noted that the NRA worked hand in hand with GCO in this process and a large portion of the credit for passing this bill goes to them. Those who are not NRA members should think about joining them. We have buried the hatchet so to speak, of our differences from the past and are now fighting together. Tonight, we agreed to continue our march towards restoring our 2A rights together. We need them to help us fight the Bloomberg money train that we faced during this session and they need us for our local contacts and influence. GeorgiaCarry.Org and the NRA make an awesome team!
THAT is the way it should be!

The Lying Melinda?

She is the head of the GA Moms Demand Action. Her name is Melinda Ennis-Roughton, she is the wife of an editor of the AJC. They have been putting out lies about the bill for weeks.

Tell @GovernorDeal: Don't give felons a license to kill. Speak out w/ @DemandAction:http://act.demandaction.org/letter/M...2.neqX19&taf=1 …

Then Galloway got involved: http://politics.blog.ajc.com/2014/03...ground-status/

{{{Updated: Just got back from the House clerk’s office. HB 60, with the language of HB 875 attached, does in fact include the above language, which would appear to allow convicted felons to avoid prosecution for the use of deadly force by invoking Georgia’s self-defense statutes.

But they are still not allowed to vote}}}

Then GCO responded, check out the dig at Galloway at the end:

Moms Tweet First, Ask Questions Later (or Never)
This week’s folly from the Moms comes in the form of a Tweet in which they claim HB875/HB60 would give “felons a license to kill.” As unexpected as it sounds, the Moms have been watching too many Bond films.
The errors in the Moms’ Tweet are numerous. First, they apparently don’t realize that convicted felons, like all people in the state, can make use of the self-defense laws in this state. Yes, Moms, much as you hate the idea of a person defending himself against a violent attack, even felons can do so, and even while they still are in prison. And, if the circumstances fit, they can even claim (GASP!) that they had no duty to retreat.
Second, Moms, the bills do nothing to change the felony on the books against felons possessing firearms. Much as you like to advertise otherwise, a felon who carries a gun still can be prosecuted for being a felon in possession of a firearm, even under the language of the bills. Darn it, those facts got in your way again.
Lastly, Moms, the bills only marginally have any relationship to what you like to call stand your ground. You see, Moms, not every use of self defense involves the duty to retreat or lack thereof. And, much as you obviously do not know (unless you purposefully lie about it over and over), Georgia has never had a duty to retreat, just as the large majority of states in the country never have.
Jim Galloway, if you’re out there, felons in Georgia can vote after they serve their sentences. But they still can’t carry guns.
